Eki is highly skilled and experienced in youth engagement, community advocacy and empowerment, and working directly with marginalized communities. She is committed to improving outcomes related to the social determinants of health for vulnerable families, children, and youth. An avenue she has utilized to do this work is her membership on the Youth Advisory Council for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (CIHR-IHDCYH), where she advises on government policies related to health research. Eki is passionate about equitable and evidence-based policies and best practices that value lived experience. During her service at the Canadian Council for Youth Prosperity, she led collaborative work to co-create a policy brief outlining recommendations to improve supports for youth with disabilities seeking employment. Eki holds a Master of Education (educational psychology) from the University of Alberta, and an Honours Bachelor of Science (psychology) from York University.
